Well-Being Winter Survival Tips for The Office or at Home

By Albany Office Supplies

With the dark and cold mornings upon us, staying motivated and productive gets harder and harder as we are more tempted to hit that snooze button when waking up. We have put together a few tips to help you feel more awake during these dark and winter months that will help you avoid that midday slumber whether working at the office or at home.

Rejuvenate

Firstly, to avoid feeling low and tired, take the right supplements to keep your immune system strong and avoid getting sick. Depending on your needs, the usual winners are vitamin C & D tablets, multivitamins and zinc. Ask your doctor or pharmacist what supplements are best suited for you.

Avoid getting sick by using the right products to keep your work area disinfected to stop the spread of germs and bacteria, especially during current pandemic. We supply disinfectant wipes, sprays, soaps, soap dispensers and hand sanitiser gels. Keep a hand sanitiser always nearby, we stock full-size dispensers and pocket-size hand gels that fit perfectly right by your desk. Prevention is always easier than the cure.

Hydration is the key to keeping yourself awake and energetic. Stock up on water bottles and stay hydrated during the day, making sure to sip on water or tea frequently while at work. We have a large range of drinks that will keep you hydrated all day at work.

With the constant use of heaters during the colder weeks the air can become quite dry and unpleasant. Dry air in the office can make you more susceptible to colds and flu. Dry and polluted air contributes to dry throats, cracked lips, dry eyes, asthma and allergies. A good air purifier can combat all these problems in domestic or industrial air.

Decorate Your Space

For those dark mornings and evenings, try using a faux flame. As open flames and candles are not encouraged in the workplace, the faux flame illusion of light gives a nice, warm ambience while working during winter. If you use a real candle, make sure to keep it away from windows and open spaces and never leave a flame unattended.

Decorate your space with bright colours. Brighten up your working area with a bowl of oranges or green apples, a bright colourful frame or picture, bright-coloured coffee mug or even invest into getting yourself a bright scarf to keep yourself warm while working. Even choose a warm, tropical or sunny screensaver on your PC or laptop to help brighten up your mood.

Good lighting is a great way to beat the winter blues as during winter we don’t get to have enough sunlight. Low light levels in winter cause bad moods and tiredness in many people. Good lighting can improve your focus, boost your mood and help you sleep better at night.

Don’t Isolate

To improve your overall mood, don’t isolate yourself. While we may be required not to mix with other people, use the benefit of technology to check up on friends and family often. A great idea is a happy-hour Zoom party once a week with your colleagues if you are working from home, or video chatting with friends or family. Talking to others can immediately improve your mood and make you instantly happier, plus it’s super important for our mental health.

Remember, we are in this together, you can have a browse through our website for any supplies you may need to help you get through these tougher winter months. Whether you are looking to stock up on your cleaning supplies, or bright, multi-coloured folders, paper clips, sticky notes or bottles of water we are the one-stop-shop for all your office needs.
